Judge Sandlin, a graduate of the Cumberland School of Law, has been practicing family law for 35 years. He served as presiding judge in the Family Court in Lauderdale County, and it was during this stint he presided over 18,000 cases with only one decision overturned. While serving on the bench, Judge Sandlin was appointed by the Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice to the Family Court Statewide Task Force and presided over the only Family Court in the state to receive the Governor’s “Strengthening Alabama Communities” Award.

 

Judge Sandlin has been an ardent advocate for protecting the health and safety of the most common victims of divorce: children. He implemented several programs while on the bench to provide care to children facing potential abuse and neglect, to include the Safe Exchange Program and Reintegration Aftercare Program. He also developed and/or implemented School Readiness Screenings, Drug Scene Program, Parent Project® Inc., Success by Six Project, HIPPY Program, School Readiness Initiative, Healthy Marriage, and Family Resource Center, Reality Check and Career Fair and SPAN Program.

 

Throughout his career, Judge Sandlin has been an active member of his community, serving as a 12 year member of the Board of Trustees for Samford University and 15 year member and chairman of the City of Florence Planning Commission, He is dedicated to helping families navigate the field of family law and received National Honors from the Christian Legal Society as a prolific and dedicated teacher and trainer of mediators and arbitrators. He is currently recognized by the American Registry as one of the top 5% of America’s most honored professionals.
